Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 June 2026
The short version: Seam reads your sent emails and the email threads they belong to (for context only), extracts a pattern summary, and immediately discards the original content. It never browses your inbox independently. We never store email text, subjects, or attachments. What we keep is a one-sentence decision summary, the date, recipient addresses, and a confidence score — nothing more.
Who we are
Seam is operated by Seam. If you have questions about this policy, contact us via the contact form on our website.
What we collect
When you connect your email account, Seam reads your sent folder to identify decision signals. When a sent email is identified as a decision, Seam also reads the surrounding thread (including replies on that subject) for context. Seam never browses your inbox independently or reads mail unrelated to your own decisions. For each decision detected, we store:
- A one-sentence summary of the decision
- The date and time it was sent
- The email addresses of the recipients
- A confidence score (0–1) based on the certainty of the language
- A topic category (e.g. strategic, vendor, career)
We do not store email subject lines, body text, attachments, quoted text from previous messages, or any content from your inbox. Raw email content is processed in memory and immediately discarded after the decision summary is extracted.
How we use your data
The extracted decision data is used solely to generate your Seam report — a structured analysis of your decision patterns delivered to your inbox. We do not use your data for advertising, do not sell it to third parties, and do not use it to train AI models.
Legal basis (GDPR)
We process your data on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you connect your email account. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
Data retention
Your data is retained until you delete your account. When you delete your account, all extracted decisions, generated reports, and account information are permanently removed immediately. There is no cooling-off period.
Third parties
We use the following services to operate Seam:
- Railway — cloud infrastructure and hosting (US West)
- Anthropic — AI processing for decision extraction and report narrative generation. Email content is sent to Anthropic's API for processing and is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.
- SendGrid (Twilio) — email delivery for your reports
- Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions
- Google / Microsoft — OAuth authentication for Gmail and Outlook access
None of these parties receive your raw email content. Anthropic receives only the text of individual sent emails for the purpose of decision extraction, in accordance with their API terms.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you — contact us via the contact form
- Delete all your data — use the "Delete my account" option at /me
- Portability — request a copy of your extracted decision data
- Object to processing — disconnect your account at any time
- Withdraw consent — delete your account; processing stops immediately
To exercise any of these rights, use the account page at /me or contact us directly.
Cookies
Seam uses a single session cookie, strictly necessary for authentication after you connect your email account. This cookie is not used for tracking or advertising. No third-party cookies are set.
Data transfers
Your data is stored on servers in the United States (Railway, US West region). This transfer is covered by standard contractual clauses and Railway's data processing agreement.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify connected users by email before the changes take effect.
